Vanessa Williams and Jim Skrip said "I Do" in front of their family and very close friends, last Saturday. William's representative confirmed the news to be true.
The actress announced that she got engaged to Jim Skrip last September. The announcement was made on "The Queen Latifah Show." Williams said, "I got engaged. I have a lot of good things happen while I've been on this lovely trip. I turned 50 when we were in rehearsal on Broadway, I just got engaged a couple of weeks ago. It has been a lot of blessings on this trip."
Williams added that Skrip accepted her for who she really is "after a wonderful first three-hour date of talking about ourselves. We found out we had a lot in common."
CNN reported that the couple met while both were on a Nile cruise back in 2013. At the time, Williams was travelling with her daughter. According to The Hollywood Gossip, Williams said that she "wasn't looking for anything." She added, "I'd been alone for a number of years and divorced for 10 years at that time."
Williams was the one who approached Skrip on the cruise because he was wearing a Buffalo Sabres shirt. The shirt caught her attention because her mother is from Buffalo, New York.
Williams had always been open about her struggles in the past. E! Online reported that this is William's third marriage. The actress reportedly posted on Twitter that she's going on a road trip for the 4th of July and what a road trip it was. She tweeted, "@VWOfficial Road trip for the holiday weekend Happy 4th."
Vanessa Williams, former Miss America, is best known for the role she played in "Ugly Betty." She also has a number of hit songs in the past. She has four children from two previous marriage with Ramon Hervey and Rick Fox.
Little is known about her long-time beau and present husband Jim Skrip except that he's an accountant.
