Saturday night was a regular night of enjoying good company, drinks and music from Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, for the dozens of patrons of The Wonder Bar in nearby Jersey Shore.
The evening proved to be more exciting than anticipated when the legendary Bruce Springsteen showed up on stage and performed his hit songs.
E! News gave away details about Springsteen's surprise attendance and reported that the iconic rocker responsible for the chart topper track "Born in the U.S.A" arrived past 10:30 p.m. and took the stage to perform 15 wonderful songs. That's a steal for some lucky customers who witnessed a free two-hour mini concert from the rock superstar.
Bruce Springsteen sang his classics such as "Because The Night," "The Promised Land" and "Darkness on the Edge of Town," as what Debbie DeLisa, Wonder Bar owner said.
"It was thrilling," exclaimed DeLisa. "It was a magical night."
Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers played as back up to Springsteen's set. The two had previously collaborated together according to DeLisa.
As per Billboard, Springsteen, 65, played his guitar, strumming the leads with grit, sweat and swagger. One of the moment that stood out was his muscular and powerful version of "The Promised Land," which was accompanied by Eddie Manion on the saxophone.
Bruce Springsteen was in high spirits while performing, even telling stories to the crowd about longtime friend Steven Van Zandt. All the ladies in the house got a sexy rendition of "Because the Night."
Of course a star of such caliber as Bruce Springsteen would attract a large crowd. With the aid of social media, words spread like wildfire of his presence and performance at The Wonder Bar. The result was the maddening crowd that filled up the inside and outside of the club in Ocean Avenue, CNN has learned.
"Even the whole street got completely packed with people," DeLisa said. "It was insane."
She added that Bruce Springsteen has been known to do unannounced and spontaneous shows at the Stone Pony throughout his music career, but it had been years ago since he did so.
Whenever Bruce Springsteen is in Jersey, "You never know," said DeLisa. "We just cross our fingers and hope."
