‘Star Wars’ UPDATE: ‘Battlefront’ New Additions You Might Not Be Aware Of
By Alex Cruz | Aug 01, 2015 08:13 AM EDT
The new "Star Wars Battlefront" is just a couple of months away from being released from the market, and Matthew Everett of DICE has been already teasing about a brand-new gameplay to be published soon and a new Hero Type.
The additional details provided were limited, but many are expecting more information to be unveiled at Gamescom 2015 in Germany on Aug. 5-9.
For now, here are some updates that you might have missed.
"Star Wars Battlefront" Species
The game developers are giving fans a chance to unlock the ability to play as Quarrens, Zabraks, Sullustans, Twi'leks and more, while fighting for the Rebels.
"Star Wars Battlefront" Split-screen
Everett said in a blog entry that the split-screen will be offered for co-op Missions on PS4 and Xbox One. The co-op and split-screen features will be available for two players only.
"Star Wars Battlefront" New Multiplayer Mode
The new multiplayer mode, called the Blast, will give players the option to have close quarters encounters rather than large-scale battles, IGN learned.
This mode sets players in a 10 versus 10 team Deathmatch. It is a face-off between Rebel and Imperial forces. To win, either the team scores 100 kills or be in the lead by the end of the 10-minute cap.
Endor's interior, ice caves of Hoth and canyons of Tattooine will all be featured as maps in the Blast mode.
"Star Wars Battlefront" More Blast Mode
There are no vehicles or Heroes and Villains in the Blast mode, but the maps will feature strategic weapons for pickups providing special abilities to players. These pickups are scattered around each level, like turrets and droids, according to PC Gamer.
"The pickups can really turn the tide of a Blast match," lead level designer Dennis Brännvall said. "They are not around every corner though, so keep your eyes peeled."
"Star Wars Battlefront" Walker Assault Mode
The vehicles in Walker Assault will vary depending on the map. There are TIE fighters, X-wings and snowspeeders in the E3 build. Meanwhile, a massive AT-AT will be featured on Endor, Game Spot reported.
"Star Wars Battlefront" is slated to be released on Nov. 17 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
