A 40-foot-high, inflatable and giant Minion caused havoc and mayhem on a bustling Irish road after it escaped from a neighboring fairground.
As per News.com.au., traffic was put on standstill on Monday in a north Dublin motorway when the famous yellow-colored cartoon character from the movie "Despicable Me" called a Minion, spiraled down the busy highway with its generator still attached to its body.
Erin van Londen, who witnessed the unfolding of the events, told the Irish Examiner, "It was causing traffic problems, it got on top of three cars at different stages and one car lost a rear view mirror, but that was the most damage the Minion did."
Van Londen promptly called the police to give a rundown of the scene.
"I told the police that this could sound like a weird phone call, but a loose inflatable Minion was causing traffic problems," said van Londen.
According to The Guardian, van Londen stepped away from the traffic line to be at a secured distance from the giant inflatable Minion.
Meanwhile, the Irish police, also called the Gardai, arrived on the area around 3 p.m. where the giant yellow Minion was situated. They managed to deflate the inflatable character with the aid of passers-by. The police then pulled it out of the motorway with the use of a wheelbarrow.
Although, for some, seeing a giant Minion seemed comical and funny, Dublin city councilor Paul McAuliffe thought otherwise. He tweeted: "Escaped Minion at Omni in Santry may seem hilarious but its a despicable breach of health & safety."
If you have watched the movies "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2" and of course their self-titled flick, "Minions," you would have learned that the Minions exist to serve the world's greatest villains, as per People.
This summer, the Minions were inevitable as they were splashed on bus benches, billboards and almost anywhere they could be placed in connection with its movie promotion.
Well, there's always a first time for everything and it's not every day that that people get to see a giant inflatable Minion disturbing the lives of commuters.
Good thing there were no reports of any injuries that resulted from the incident.
