"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" poster, created by Drew Struzan, unveiled during D23 Expo poster seemed to have provided some hints about the new film's plot.
Here's the snap of the exclusive "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" poster revealed at the expo, which was also shared on Twitter by @StarWars_VII.
The photo depicted four notable characters — Finn, Rey, Kylo Ren and the returning Hans Solo. Curious, because in the snap John Boyega's character is seen holding the lightsaber of Luke Skywalker, which previously belonged to Anakin Skywalker before he became Darth Vader.
This is the first time Finn has been seen wielding the lightsaber. It only confirms that at some point in the movie, he will be using the Jedi's weapon, according to The Verge.
Drew Struzan crafted all the posters for the six films in the "Star Wars" franchise, and the poster made for the seventh film was just as gorgeous.
It is not yet the official theatrical sheet for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Slash Films reported. It was only made exclusively for the D23 Expo.
Struzan, who also made the poster for "Indiana Jones," has been retired for years, the site added. There are rumors that he will return to design the poster for the seventh "Star Wars" installment; however, there are no confirmations yet.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is set 30 years after the "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" events, as per Coming Soon. It will feature a new generation of Jedis, heroes, smugglers, villains and princesses.
Other than Boyega, the film stars Harrison Ford, who will be reprising his role as Han Solo. He will be joined by Daisy Ridley, who will play the role of Rey, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux.
The film, helmed by J.J. Abrams, is in post-production, as per IMDb. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is slated for release on Dec. 18, 2015.
