Rumors are rife that software giant Microsoft will release its newest operating system Windows Phone 8 sometime in November. However a new report has emerged which has suggested that Finnish smartphone manufacturer Nokia is considering a new marketing approach for the launch of Windows Phone 8 devices, and might offer its future Lumia devices as operator exclusives.
According to the report by the Financial Times, Nokia is in talks with various wireless carriers around the world for these new deals, including France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom.
"Nokia aims at offering carriers shared revenue from Windows Phone 8 sales, so as to determine them to better support its devices," said the report.
While no specific info on the matter has emerged, rumor has it that Nokia might be looking into providing wireless carriers with more profitable deals on its Windows Phone 8 devices when compared to what Apple and Samsung have to offer at the moment.
Last week, Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop said during the conference call on the company's financial results for the second quarter of the year that the company has high hopes regarding Windows Phone 8, and that sales of its Lumia devices should increase following the platform's launch.
Recently, the Finnish handset vendor was also rumored to be the first to bring handsets powered by Windows Phone 8 to the market, which should happen sometime in October.
