Season 11 of "Grey's Anatomy" caught MerDer shippers by surprise when the other half of their favorite doctor couple was written off. It was a moment they dreaded in the hit ABC medical drama.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 will see fans alongside Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey recovering from the reeling loss. Jason George who plays Dr. Ben Warren said that the upcoming season in the #TGIT show by Shonda Rhimes will bring a "brand new" vibe to the long-running TV show.
George related to People, "They've hit reboot almost. There's a lot of things that make it feel brand new."
"But it has that lightness and sense of humor that people fell in love with in the first place. And the sexy is back on," teased George. "There are a lot of people who are not in couples now and are falling into bed. Everyone's getting a little bit of loving."
George also talked about McDreamy's departure from the show and shared that without Patrick Dempsey's presence on the set, the show will absolutely be "different", but, he added that change is necessary - even if it brings the characters in a somber direction, as per Entertainment Weekly.
He added, as per Design & Trend, "Every time someone leaves the show, it changes. People think they want everything to stay the same and everyone to be happy, but happy people make for boring television, ultimately."
Meanwhile, the question in the viewers minds, that even up to this day some fans of "Grey's Anatomy" can't quite move on yet, was the real reason behind Dempsey's departure.
Master Herald reported that Dempsey apparently decided to do other things besides the show and maybe explore other possibilities, after being in "Grey's Anatomy" for 11 years. Another report came out, that McDreamy supposedly acted like a diva on the set of the ABC hit series. Add to that, he reportedly had an affair with an intern while he was still married to his wife, Jillian Fink.
