But most people believe that a strategically targeted application letter is the best weapon to fight the battle in the competitive job market. The letter of application is a document that introduces the highlights of your key accomplishments that would make a perfect fit for a job opening. It typically provides the information qualified for the job someone is applying for. Writing an amazing application letter is not an easy task. It's crucial to think, understand and be well informed on how to properly construct it. Aboutcareers lists down things that should be included in an application letter. These are:
1. Subject (for email). Don't forget to put the name of the job you are interested to apply for and your name on your message's subject line.
2. Greetings. You can begin your letter greeting with "Dr/Mr/Ms. Last Name." If you don't know the last name of your employer you can simply write "Dear Hiring Manager," or you can simply leave it blank instead.
3. Body of letter. The body of a letter is composed of the first, middle and last paragraph. In the first paragraph you can focus on the reason why you want to apply. The middle part gives you the opportunity to impress by enumerating the things you can offer to your employer. And the last part is your chance to say thanks to the hiring manager and to give notes on how you will be followed up.
4. Signature. End your application letter with your signature. It should be handwritten followed by your typed name. And if it's an email, just include your typed name and your contact information.
