‘Big Bang Theory’ Season 9: Exec Talks Divorce In Leonard-Penny Wedding Premiere Episode?

Is "Big Bang Theory" Season 9's premiere episode featuring trouble in paradise between a couple? Executive producer Steve Mollaro has just opened up about "a divorce in the beginning." Which couple could have this fate when the CBS geeky comedy returns this fall season? Find out below.
"Big Bang Theory" fans who have been very keen on following the spoilers the show creators and the cast have been dropping already know that Johnny Galecki's Leonard and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting's Penny are tying the knot this fall season. However, there is still that question on what would happen after Galecki's confession that he kissed another woman.
Show exec Steve Molaro has confirmed that Penny "can get past" the fact that her lover kissed another woman during his North Sea trip, so this could only mean that the couple could really walk the Las Vegas chapel aisle and become husband and wife, Variety has learned.
However, aside from a couple tying the knot, Molaro also revealed recently that another couple could be divorcing... or at least have that feeling when fans see them again on "Big Bang Theory" Season 9's premiere episode. Sad to say geeky fans, it's Sheldon and Amy who are not going to be on good terms after what happened in last season's finale.
Molaro even dropped a spoiler that will certainly cause heartbreak to Sheldon-Amy shippers out there. He said, "I don't think it's a spoiler to say they don't make up by the end [of the episode]."
Molaro then explained to TVGuide: "It's rough on both of them. I think [it's] like a divorce in the beginning and it's yet another thing that Sheldon and Amy and all seven of them need to navigate separately and as a group."
Speaking of Mayim Biyalik's character, Molaro said that Amy does love Sheldon, but she has come to a point when she's just not sure if he needs him. As for Sheldon, he's got all sorts of emotions yet he is still playing on the idea of finally proposing to Amy.
Meanwhile, Kunal Nayyar, who recently opened up about being married to Miss India 2006 Neha Kapur to Vogue India, is reprising his role as Raj who may not be in love with Laura Spencer's Emily but is keeping the latter but he's just so insecure with how things are working out for his friends.
"He can't do it. He wants to, but he can't. He's a little too insecure! It's tough for a guy like him who doesn't really know how to be in relationships and is also afraid of being alone. He's just stuck right now," Molaro said.
Catch the geeky gang's return for "Big Bang Theory" Season 9's premiere episode this Monday night at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
