To watch Reign Season 3 episode 5 this Friday, fans need to prepare boxes of tissues since Toby Regbo’s King Francis may be finally meeting his demise after three seasons of trials, heart aches, and genuine love and happiness. As The CW period drama moves on however, there is this cloud of darkness enveloping the chances of seeing it continuing to be on air.
Ever since "Reign" Season 3 started, fans of the period drama were over-the-moon happy to learn that they can catch more of Torrance Coomb's Bash, Adelaide Kane's Mary, and Toby Regbo's Francis. Unfortunately, producers of the show also confirmed that this would be Regbo's last time of reprising his role, without really spilling which episode is going to be Francis' final show.
Last episode featured a very difficult-to-watch scene when Francis laid lifeless on his bed. Mary was gushing loads of tears, but it wasn't time to let go of Francis at the time. Bash and Spencer MacPherson's Charles came to the rescue by enlisting Alexandra Ordolis' Delphiine to revive the king, as per Vine Report.
In the heat of the moment, Mary told Delphine that she was willing to give her life in exchange of Francis'. However, it appears that anther twist came unanticipated by fans when it was Amy Brenneman's Marie De Guise who lost her life to save Francis.
Despite the death of Mary's mother, fans were elated to know that Francis got a second chance at living a meaningful life with Mary. However, fans should not really expect a lot since the prophet Nostradamus is back to reveal another warning to Megan Follow's Catherine.
"There are other images I saw concerning Francis' fate. A flowering tree unlike any I've seen, strange and dreamlike. And then there is blood," Nostradamus was quoted as saying in the sneak peek at the new episode "In A Clearing" by LatinPost.
Does this mean Francis is going to stay alive until the end of this season? Although the answer has yet to unfold, fans already took to the show's Facebook page to assume that he is going to die, with Alicia Sansome writing: "This Friday is apparently his last episode, prepare for heartbreak."
Other fans were quick to voice out that if Francis dies, "Reign" will be canceled. Imran Ally wrote: "King Francis dies the show will get canceled for sure."
Another fan named Nina Alicea went as far as stating that Mary is going to get axed this season as well. She wrote: "They are planning to kill francis and mary off, they want a tragic love story. This looks like the last season of reign."
Nonetheless, there are others who are open to accepting the fact that Francis is bound to die since the show is mostly basing its storyline from historical events. Sansome commented: "Francis dies and Mary's story continues on, the show is about her, long may SHE reign."
The official synopsis of "Reign" Season 3 episode 5 entitled "In A Clearing" goes this way per TV Guide: "Mary envisions her future in France by Francis' side as his condition improves, prompting her to contemplate signing away her claim to the throne of England. Meanwhile, Nostradamus returns with more news of Francis' fate."
Don't miss the goodbye episode to Francis this Friday night. Tune in to The CW at 8 p.m. EDT. If you can't watch it on TV, catch it online using this free online stream link here.
