Disagreements occur in different relationships. But how what happens when it is with the one who hired and has control to dismiss you from your job? The discord occurring between an employer and employee presents unequal bargaining power and special challenges. However, disagreements or miscommunication can be resolved peacefully and with mutual respect.

Remember, to every story there is two sides and then the truth. Reconciliation can be found between the two perspectives. Your boss may believe you have not conducted your work properly or that they are doing too much of your job or you overlooked a task. Unsatisfied job expectation and duties can cause tension. Therefore, it is important to be open and honest about your mistakes and communicate clearly and frequently to avoid any gaps of disconnect.
If you find that you and your boss ‘ values and integrity clash then it would be wise to seek support from internal HR resources and external support (employment, career counselling, legal advice, unions).

Make sure not to have loose lips. Do not talk about your boss behind their back to other employees. Address your issues directly with the person you have a problem with and do not disclose it to anyone else.

There are constructive ways to disagree healthily. Do not get loud-mouthed and lose composure. Control your emotions and think, act and speak rationally and calmly.

Also try to see things from your boss’ standpoint and hopefully they do the same. Reflect upon your abilities you mentioned in the interview, such as being able to communicate effectively, strategically working under stress and pressure, working on improving your strengths and addressing your weaknesses.
