Being an entrepreneur is not easy. Business owners have to face pressure just to succeed. Unfortunately, some of them succumb to depression and eventually take it to the extreme, leading to suicide attempts.
To avoid triggering mental health problems, health experts believe that entrepreneurs should be aware about the tools and skills that are needed to manage stress.
Handle pressure without looking like a complete failure
For the newbies in business, you should always remember that launching a business does not often turn out the way you would epect them to. It's not usually a positive outcome. But you should remember that by the time you start a company, many people- staff and investors- depend on you. Problems will eventually arise and you might seek for a break to free your mind from stress. But bear in mind that as the founder, your staff, and even your investors should always see you as a confident, strong person. In that way, they will put their full trust in you.
Help is at hand
Jonathan Hirshon, principal of Horizon PR said that start-ups normally deprive themselves from sleep to meet deadlines. They work so hard that they even spend 60 to 80 hours a week lasting for months, but for some cases the workload predisposed some individuals to mental health issues.
For some cases, other newbies don't admit that they are facing a problem, while others blame themselves for the failure, thinking that they are not good enough for the company and they are the reason why it's crumbling down. Hirshon said that these people who slipped to depression should reach out for help from family, friends or professionals. They should understand that no matter who they talk to, people close to them can help them.
He said talking to somebody and expressing your issue can definitely help.
Entrepreneurs commonly face conundrum, but knowing the required tools to manage stress can help start- ups dodge mental health problems.
