Viewers who watched Michael Bay's 13 Hours in movie theaters this week were treated to an exclusive preview for 10 Clover Lane

The movie, which is produced by Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams, is a "blood relative" to Cloverfield. Which can only mean that 10 Clover Lane will most likely happen in the same movie universe as the original. But is the movie a sequel to the first movie?

Abrams confirmed it won't be:

The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.

The upcoming American thriller film, previously titled The Cellar and Valencia, is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and penned by Josh Campbell, Matthew Stuecken, and Damien Chazelle.

The post-apocalyptic drama will star Mary Elizabeth Winstead, known for her role in Final Destination 3, and John Gallagher Jr., who appeared in Law and Order episodes. Both are captives in an underground bunker, which is the setting for the movie. Their captor, John Goodman, bans them from going outside for some unknown reason after saving her from a car accident. The survivalist claims he saved her from a chemical attack that makes the outside world inhabital. Fearing for her life, she believes she must escape.

The trailer ends when Winstead breaks free and encounters something that she sees.

The production of the film underwent several title changes to keep the secrecy of the film under wraps. Fans tried to get more information about the movie but the production team went as far as naming the movie "Cheese" to lose hungry-information fans. The plot was hidden for a long time and the stars showed they did not have any connection with Cloverfield at the time.

10 Clover Lane will hit theaters this year on March 11, posts confirmed.

An interview with Winstead describes the film in her own words:

As it goes on, it gets progressively darker and darker, and less and less funny, and weirder.
