Singer/Actress Jenni Rivera Dies in Plane Crash

Popular reality TV star and singer Jenni Rivera tragically passed away after the private jet she was in crashed while she was on her way to Toluca, near Mexico City. She was 43 years old. The star’s father, Pedro, has confirmed the news outside of their family’s home in Lakewood, California. Pedro is said to have received the news from his son, Lupillo, who is also a Mexican singer.
Along with Rivera, six other passengers have also been confirmed dead after the remains of the private jet were discovered. “I hope people remember her as she was- someone who was straight with the world”, said Jenni’s father. Celebrities have also expressed their shock and sadness through the social networking site, Twitter.
The list of celebrities who expressed their sadness via Twitter include Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio, and William Levy. The Mexican-American star was beloved by fans from all corners of the globe. Her albums have sold a total of 15 million copies to date and she was also nominated for a Latin Grammy Award three times during her career.
The cause of the crash has yet to be determined and the Transportation Ministry has started an investigation in order to shed more light towards the incident.
