Jason Kidd had himself firmly planted 26-feet away from the basket and just as he shot a three-point basket, Jerry Stackhouse would come charging in and fouled him for a game clinching four-point play opportunity. It was a game that went down to the wire and if every game between the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets were to be like this, then we could be in for one epic rivalry.
Carmelo Anthony chipped in a game high 45 points for the Knicks as they beat the Nets, 100-97. With the win, the Knicks improved their standing to 16-5 and currently have the best record in the East while the Nets, 11-9, continue to slide suffering their fifth straight lost. The win also served as a form of sweet revenge for the Knicks for their overtime loss against the Nets last November 26th.
Andray Blatche led the Nets with 23 points while All-Star guard, Deron Williams, chipped in with 18 points and 10 assists. It is also worth noting that the Nets outscored the Knicks in the paint, 48-20, but it was the Knicks’ barrage of three pointers that would ultimately give them control of the game and the win.
