Even if a lot of "The Vampire Diaries" fans once rooted for a Nina Dobrev-Ian Somerhalder love story that would last forever, the actor's relationship with actress Nikki Reed did not fail them as well. Even if the reasons are already obvious, here are five reasons why Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed legitimately define #RelationshipGoals:

1.       The picture perfect couple doesn't hide their giddiness whenever they're around one another. They both see to it that the world knows how much they love one another. He posts just as frequently as she does and there's no denying how fond they are of each other's company. Despite being already married, the boyfriend and girlfriend level of sweetness can still be felt between the two.

2.       They both deal with rumors like it's their jobs. The two started dating mid-2014, just a year after Somerhalder and ex-girlfriend/leading lady Nina Dobrev broke up. At all times, speculations about the two of them breaking up, or on the verge of doing so, have surfaced, yet the two are quick to shut the nasty things up by staying solid.

3.       They share the same passion and love and are both activists. "My goal and Nikki's goal in life is literally - my goal in particular - is to build four profit entities that will literally feed our necessary non-profit initiatives till the end of time," Somerhalder said during a conversation with Us Magazine. "We definitely share that passion together in a huge way."

4.       As seen on their Instagram accounts which they never fail to update, the beautiful couple love travelling the world together.

5.       They share the same love for animals - especially dogs! Their IG accounts are enveloped by a lot of photographs of dogs together with them, with Somerhalder referring to their lovely pets as their "little family."
