N.Y. Woman Used Facebook In Newtown Massacre Scam

The FBI detained a 37 year old woman from New York City on Thursday for allegedly gathering deceitful donations as funeral funds for one of the children shot dead in the Newtown massacre. She claimed that she was his aunt.
The woman identified as Nouel Alba, from the Bronx, is facing charges for making fictitious claims to federal agents. The authorities revealed that Alba used her own personal Facebook account and even called and sent text messages to ask for charitable donations for Noah Pozner, 6, the first among 20 children and six school teachers who were mercilessly gunned down on December 14 at the Sandy Hook Elem. School.
Alba instructed her victims to send in their donations to a personally controlled PayPal account. When asked by the agents, Alba falsely reported that she didn't post any such information on her Facebook account, and that she neither asked for donations nor accessed her PayPal account recently. She also claimed to have refunded any donations she received.
She has already appeared before a magistrate in Hartford, Connecticut, and was later freed after paying a bail of $50,000. If found guilty, Alba could very well face a maximum of five years imprisonment along with a $250,000 fine.
