Fans are still in constant search for new updates on "The Last of Us 2" release date. While the game has not yet been officially confirmed by game developer Naughty Dog, gamers are almost certain that the sequel will see the light of day.

As of writing, Neil Druckmann has not denied rumors about the new title. In fact, he had been very honest to share that they have been exploring ideas for the sequel already. "The answer is - and this is totally honest, and I've said this in the past - that when Bruce (Straley) and I moved over to Uncharted 4, we were brainstorming ideas for The Last Of Us 2 with new characters; ideas for TLOU 2 with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game, and building prototypes for each one of those ideas," he said as reported by Movie Pilot.

"And just as we were getting close to settling or narrowing that list down, we were asked to work on Uncharted 4. So, I guess he (voice actor Nolan North) was kind of right in that we were working on stuff, but we don't know what we're doing next and we won't know until probably a few months after we finish Uncharted 4."

Speculations have started to spread, with fans offering their theories on the upcoming title's plot, but none have been confirmed nor denied as of writing.

New reports are suggesting that it could only be a matter of time before developers give waiting fans a glimpse of what to expect in the sequel. According to Christian Today, the second installment could soon get the green light as Naughty Dog is wrapping up with "Uncharted 4" work. The new game featuring the last adventure of Nathan Drake has been moved to a May 10 launch from a previously slated Apr. 26 release.

"'The Last of Us 2' ranks up there as one of the most eagerly anticipated sequels in recent gaming history, and development on the new game may have already begun," the article read. "While the game's developers have yet to even officially announce the sequel, there are some pieces of evidence out there that would seem to hint at the possibility that the game may be further along than what fans might expect."
