James Corden's "Late Late Show" hosting gig may have been caused by Vogue's Anna Wintour. Mail Online reported that Corden has the iconic fashionista to thank for landing the "Late Late Show." CBS boss Les Moonves admitted that he did not know who James Corden was until he talked to Anna Wintour about his plans.
"Ninety-five percent of people didn't know who I was talking about," Moonves revealed. "The only people who did were either Brits or people who knew the Broadway theater scene." Things changed when he talked to British-born Vogue editor Anna Wintour, though. "When I mentioned it to Anna Wintour, she was over the moon-she thought I'd gotten Johnny Carson back," the CBS president admitted.
James Corden's "Late Late Show" gig started last March. He has become quite successful that his two-year deal was extended for another three years. This reportedly earned him £10 million.
"I love her. When I was doing a play in New York, we used to go for lunch every month," "The Late Late Show" host told Heat Radio about the legendary Vogue editor. "I'd say I speak to her fairly frequently. I just I really, really like her and we get on very well."
One popular segment from his "Late Late Show" is the "Carpool Karaoke" where he invites singers for a drive as they sing to their songs or create renditions of popular songs. He has already taken the likes of Adele, Justin Bieber, Iggy Azalea, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder and Chris Martin of Coldplay for a spin.
"I just walked out of there saying, 'This guy's extraordinary,'" Les Moonves admitted. Tyga made a guest appearance in the Feb. 29 episode for James Corden's "Late Late Show." The host teamed up with "Million Dollar Listings" realtor James Harris as they tried to sell a $13 million L.A. mansion to the 26-year-old rapper.
Corden showed Tyga and his crew around the mansion, located in Hollywood Hills. He is deemed by HollywoodLife.com as "the world's worst real estate agent."
