"I will not apologize for how I look," Daisy Ridley says. This issue came about after an Instagram user accused the British actress for setting "unrealistic expectations" for young people by being too thin, according to ET.
The blockbuster star was trolled with a meme of Ridley's character in "The Force Awakens." The body shaming meme also had a speech bubble that reads: "I can't believe the unrealistic expectations I'm setting for young girls. Who cast me anyway? Don't they know real women haves curves?"
The Londoner would not have any of that and responded directly to the user: "Real women' are all shapes and sizes, all ethnicities, all levels of brave, have families, don't have families. I am a 'real woman' like every other woman in this world." However, her response has been deleted after Ridley's faithful followers lashed at the meme author.
To instill peace and balance to the world, she later released a second statement, according to The Guardian. The "Star Wars" Episode 8 star voiced out that she will not apologize for how she looks and adds that "... what I say and how I live my life 'cause what's happening inside is much more important anyway and I am striving to be the best version of myself, even if I stumble along the way. It seems apt I get tagged in this a day after I received misogynistic comments on my [International Women's Day] post."
Several celebrities also came forward and wrote about how the industry judges them for who they are, such as Cara Delevingne (on her modeling career) and Kim Kardashian (about her nude selfies).
While Ridley's personal life gets bashed, her professional life is going much better when The Derry Journal revealed that "Star Wars" Episode 8 will be filmed in Donegal, Ireland - right on Malin Head. Currently, Rey and Mark Hamill's Luke SkyWalker is still finishing some scenes in Skellig Michael.
