Comic universe crossovers are a big thing this year. So when Spider-Man was spotted in a spiffy costume, it got everybody wondering what's up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The "Captain America: Civil War" trailer had fans intrigued, but it's spurring rumors about where the plot is heading especially when Spider-Man makes an appearance out of nowhere, as reported by Forbes. Marvel movies and even other studios are getting in on the cross-over game. "Men In Black" and Channing Tatum's "Jump Street" is planning on an alien-hunting duo and soon, it's no secret that "Avengers" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" will get coupled together when facing off their biggest foe.
The question is, why did Marvel choose to reveal Spider-Man this early? Trailers are defined to be teasers and even cameos are being kept a secret until the movie is released in theaters, as a form of marketing tactic. Forbes has it that it was for an advertising hype.
The new "Civil War" trailer showed Spider-man in a super crisp costume that makes it more ideal for his web-slinging activities compared to the previous movies and franchise where it wasn't as "shiny." The eyes in the official trailer looked super cool but questions still plague the Youtube video's thread such as: "Why is he even there?" and "If they're showing him this early then it could just be a fake." The video also shows Spidey holding Captain America's shield and it looks like they're not getting along.
Aside from advertising tactics, do you have theories as to why Spider-Man decided to drop in on the all-American soldier?
"Captain America: Civil War" is scheduled to hit theatres on May 6, 2016.
