Just after dropping a surprise album recently, reports are claiming that rapper Kendrick Lamar will be releasing a collaborative album with J. Cole soon. Although there have been no confirmation about the rumors, it has been suggested before that Kendrick hinted about dropping another album by surprise.
"We gon' drop that out [of] the sky though, I ain't gon' give no dates or no nothing," the rapper said in an interview as reported by Hot New Hip Hop. "Just gon' let it fall."
The joint album has been the subject of rumors and speculations mostly because Kendrick and J. Cole have both proven their innate rapping prowess. Even talented lyricist Royce Da 5'9" had only good words to say about the two rappers.
"[Kendrick] is the exception to every rule in hip-hop," he told DJ Vlad in an interview according to Ecumenical News. "He sits in that very successful MC space by himself but he takes that hit. He doesn't sell the same number of records as Drake does. He may have to take that hit in sales to get the Grammy's and receive all the creative accolades."
As for J. Cole, Royce claimed that the rapper has his own unique style that is definitely unlike the other big names in the hip-hop scene. "[He] is the exception to every rule in hip-hop," he said. "He sits in that very successful MC space by himself but he takes that hit. He doesn't sell the same number of records as Drake does. He may have to take that hit in sales to get the Grammy's and receive all the creative accolades."
