Snapchat has recently released a major update which includes noteworthy features and hundreds of new stickers.
The popular social media site has slowly rose to fame with its multimedia functions, but has been a choice of many because of its heavy reliability on emojis and other video and photo editing gimmicks. The new update boasts of an even more interactive site as it now allows video and audio chat among many things.
"The long-rumored update adds more than 200 stickers featuring walruses, sloths, aliens, and Snapchat's signature ghost, and they can be searched by keyword, as on Facebook Messenger," The Verge reported. "There are also easier controls for starting a video call, allowing you to dial someone who is not present in the chat. You can also choose to chat via audio, and switch back and forth from audio to video during a chat. "
Apart from the new call feature, users can also leave an audio or video note when a friend is not available to take the call. These notes will be available once the other user goes online and opens the app.
Snapchat has proven that it has a lot to grow. Just recently, it has acquired Bitstrips inc., the company responsible for Bitmoji. According to reports, Snapchat bought the company for $100M to allow their users to customize and create their own avatars.
"I can't even tell you what our inbox looks like in terms of partnership request," Bitstrip chief executives Jacob Blackstock told Forbes as reported by CS Monitor. "All of the movies, all the television shows, all the fashion houses, all the pop stars, they all want to be Bitmojis because we somehow became the determinant of who has made it."
