Recent Google Nexus 2016 news has revealed that the upcoming device will no longer have a pure Android OS. It is also rumored to be manufactured by HTC or Huawei.
According to BGR, Google CEO Sundar Pichai told Walt Mossberg during an interview at the Code Conference that they don't see a need for a pure Google Nexus phone yet. He admitted, though, that the company will be more involved in the design of its future devices.
"Our plan is still to work with OEMs to make phones," Pichai said. The company will also be "investing more effort" in the development of Nexus products and be more "opinionated" about its design.
There are already rumors that Google Nexus 2016 will be created by HTC. Moreover, it is said to have two versions. Android N may also be rolled out this summer and may see the release of new Nexus devices along with it.
The publication noted that fans are very happy about the unaltered version of Android on Nexus devices. They are usually the first to receive the latest updates from Google.
However, Google may add several features on top of Android on Nexus devices. Apparently, the company wants to "thoughtfully add more features on top of Android or Nexus phones" since there is a lot of "software innovation to be had."
Yibada reported that the Google Nexus 2016 device may be created by HTC. It is said to have two versions: the regular-sized phone model and a phablet edition. The handset could also be based on HTC 10.
There are rumors, though, that Huawei will be releasing an upgraded version of Nexus 6P. It is believed to have the powerful Snapdragon 820 as well as a whopping 4GB of RAM. The device is expected to have the same premium physical features and design of the Nexus 6P.
There are claims that the Google Nexus 2016 release date will happen together with the launch of Android N. It may happen this August.
