The announcement made by the creator of Pokemon Go and Niantic founder head, John Hanke, seems to create a rivalry between virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) as he pronounced that AR is better and a far more promising technology than VR.
But what is the difference between AR and VR?
Virtual Reality transports people to a virtual world with its computer-generated simulation and recreates a real life environment or situation, while the Augmented Reality takes virtual objects into the real world, just like the game Hanke developed which is now the most popular app on Earth.
For the above-mentioned reason, Hanke thinks that AR technology is more amazing and revolutionary since it can create an enhanced experience of a human and encourages him or her to discover and travel to real places. He also stresses that this was the philosophy that guides Niantic Corporation and its products. "Even from the start, our mission were to build games that promote people to go outside and explore fascinating places," Recode interview quoted Hanke as saying.
In other words, Niantic aims to develop games using technologies that would make people walk around and see the nature. This AR preference by the company and their founder seem to be proven by the success of the Pokémon GO game. It continued its momentum as one of the best mobile game as it continued to attract more players hunting Mewtwo, Vaporeon, Dragonite and Pikachu, and many more characters that have been deployed.
On other news, Pokemon Go surpasses other big contenders like Twitter, Facebook, and SnapChat in terms of downloaded times and a number of users. In addition, a testament also from the data collected by the app growth watchdog, Sensor Tower, states that after its July 6 launching in the United States, it has grossed to $440 million worldwide on the App Store and Google Play, making it a global phenomenon.
