The Cleveland Cavaliers had an emotional championship ceremony on Tuesday night before their opening game against the New York Knicks. It was the franchise' first ever championship which fans have been waiting for so long in the last 52 years. Cavaliers' superstar Lebron James finally fulfilled his promise, a ring and a banner for the city of Cleveland.

James had a shot of winning his first title back in the 2007 NBA finals but fell short against an experienced Spurs team. He soon decided to move to Miami during his free agency, and it was one of the most controversial moments in the NBA world. He won two championships with the Miami Heat alongside fellow 2003 class draftees Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. In the 2014-2015 season, James decided to go back to his hometown of Cleveland hoping to fulfill his promise, which he did eventually.

"Cleveland against the world," James said as he ended his speech during the ceremony, according to USA Today. James and his teammates took the spotlight received their rings and waited for the long coveted banner to be raised in the Quicken loans arena.

It wasn't only the players, coaching staff and executives who recieved the rings but Yahoo sports reported that other employees would get rings as well.

The night became very emotional as the fans reminisce and took glimpses of last seasons' finals game against the highly-favored Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers were down 3-1 and were able to comeback from a 7 game series and its also the first team in NBA history to do so.

The Cavaliers are now looking forward to defending their title as the new season starts and Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has expressed the same sentiments. Gilbert tried to challenge the team in getting a another ring and he said, "There's only one thing left to do, repeat"
