Metallica Performs 'Mr Soul' With Neil Young at Bridge School Event

Metallica has always been known for its hard back to back shows, but it isn't normal for the band to have found them in a school concert event.
They were in Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, Calif in two consecutive nights in collaboration with Neil Young who has originally organized the event annually.
The band roared the night with nine rocking songs including "Mr Soul" of Buffalo Springfield with Young as a former member of the band, doing mostly of the vocals. The song "Mr Soul" was written by Young for the album Buffalo Springfield Again back in 1967, the band's second studio album.
The night was supposed to be for Young to do more performances, but Young seems to enjoy every moment the famous Metallica would show off. Young even had guitar duel with Kirk Hammet, Metallica's guitarist, and exchanged hard metallic solos.
"We don't jam too often, so this is pretty cool," stated Hetfield, prior to the performance. And after the song was complete, all four band members hugged Young and took a bow with the singer.
It was really an unordinary Metallica gig. The band open's the night with the cover of 'Whiskey in the Jar,' and also worked in covers of Deep Purple's "When a Blind Man Cries" and The Clash's 'Clampdown' in addition to the Buffalo Springfield finale. The group also worked in more standards like 'Hero of the Day,' 'Enter Sandman' and 'Seek and Destroy, while the new song 'Hardwired' also got an acoustic adjustment.
This is the third time that Metallica played in Bridge School Benefit, having their first performances last 1997 followed on 2007.
The benefit concert is held every year in October at the Shoreline Amphitheatre to raise money for the Bridge School, and proceeds will be used to help physically challenged children to overcome their impairments.
