Fans have been clamoring for it nonstop and Niantic had no choice but to listen. After the week-long Halloween merriment that drew in new and returning players alike, 'Pokémon GO' wishes to maintain this streak as it is about to introduce daily bonuses that will keep gamers occupied and goal-driven.
As per the Wall Street Journal, the Halloween event did exactly what the game wanted it to do and so much more. The ghostly spawns and double candy treats paid off with a whopping $42.9 million in revenue, showing how much of an impact limited-time events and goals would have. This may be the signal that finally had the developers thinking of creating daily and weekly bonuses.
In the Pokémon Go official website blog post, details of an upcoming update have been specified.
Catching at least one pokémon every day would give the player 500 XP as well as 600 Stardust. A larger bonus awaits the player as long as one catches a pokémon for seven consecutive days, netting 2,000 XP and 2,400 Stardust.
A bonus also exists for visiting any PokéStop daily, awarding the player 500 XP and additional items. Doing it seven days in a row would merit 2,000 XP and more additional items. Information on what those items are is still unconfirmed.
What's even better is that the game will not be relying on a 24-hour timer before the next daily bonus can be acquired. In the same blog post, an example illustrates that if a player obtains the daily bonus at any time of a given day, the next day's rewards can be obtained the following day starting at 12 a.m. local time.
GameSpot reported last August that interest and engagement in the augmented reality game had dropped drastically in a mere month after its launch, losing around 15 million users. Niantic's decision to create a Halloween in-game event brought players back along with new ones. The daily and weekly bonuses, therefore, is an excellent move to keep avid fans invested in the game.
There is no confirmed date for the patch yet, but will be coming very soon.
