‘Hamilton,' 'The Present' And Other Musical Broadways On Spotlight

After the emergence of the hit musical Hamilton, other Broadway shows shines in front of the spotlight.

Hamilton is a musical about Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of America. He is an immigrant from the West Indies who become Pres. George Washington's right-hand man.

It is a modern musical that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway. The music and lyrics is created by Tony-award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, Playbill reported.

Aside from Hamilton, there are other musicals playing in Broadway today like Dear Evan Hansen that was orchestrated by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton's musical director. Cate Blanchett is also making her Broadway debut with The Present, written by acclaimed playwright Anthony Chekhov.

According to Deadline, was an untitled play of Chekhov that had many names over the years. The most famous adaptation of this play is Wild Honey that was created in 1986. It stars household names like Ian McKellen and Kathryn Walker.

The story is about a witty man called Platonov, his wife, former students, friends and their partners. It focuses on their regrets, denials and desires despite having a comfortable life.

It's not only Blanchett who will make his Broadway debut, Josh Groban will also be in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812. There are also other plays in Broadway to look out for like Les Liaison Dangereuses and Falsettos, Los Angeles Times reported.

Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 is about a Natasha a beautiful woman visiting Moscow, waiting for her fiancé Andrey to return to war. She was seduced by a married-man Anatole that ruined her societal position.

Her only way of redemption lies with Pierre who's a lonely outsider who showed compassion to Natasha.  It is called by critics as "thrilling and a feast for the senses" and "inventive, ravishing and full on the romantic," its official site reported. Truly, there are tons of broadways musicals people can watch and enjoy.
