The Oklahoma City Thunder are now relying on Russel Westbrook to get the team back into the playoffs since Kevin Durant left in free agency. Now, there are NBA trade speculations that the team is planning to get help by looking for a wingman that could share the load with Westbrook. Will Andrew Wiggins be the right guy for the job?
According to NBC Sports, the Thunder is still searching for bigger wings that would give them stability in the 3 spot. Such a move would put the team's roster into place and have everybody slide down to their intended positions.
Andre Roberson is the one player that the Thunder is counting on right now. Roberson is a defensive specialist that could defend the shooting guard and small forward spot at the same time. But the problem with him is that he can be an offensive setback at times.
The best option for the Thunder would be getting someone who could play on both sides of the court. Wiggins would be the perfect fit since he averages 26.6 PPG, 2.3 APG and 3.9 RPG. On a defensive note, he also averages 0.7 BLKPG and 0.4 STLPG which is what the team needs.
There are NBA trade speculations that the Minnesota Timberwolves could be shopping Wiggins according to the Latin Post. There are no confirmations about since the Timberwolves are planning to make Wiggins, along with Karl-Anthony Towns, the face of the franchise.
If the Thunder acquires Wiggins from the T-Wolves, it would definitely come at a price. Sending Andrew Roberson, Kyle Singler and Cameron Payne to Minnesota is one possible deal to make the trade happen.
These are all just NBA trade speculations and might not happen anytime soon. But with the Thunder in dire need of a wingman, they might just make some blockbuster trades in the post season. The NBA is definitely a must watch for fans.
