George Hill has been putting up good numbers for the Jazz and he could definitely give stability to any team in the point guard position. With Hill entering free agency in 2017, NBA trade rumors are leaking that he has a possibility of going to the New York Knicks. The Knicks are finally resolving their point guard issues.
The Knicks are still trying to find their niche in the point guard spot since acquiring Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings in the offseason. Both players were starting point guards in their previous teams but in a recent game against the Washington Wizards, it just showed that both players are better off being two-guards.
In their loss against the Wizards, Hornacek experimented on putting Rose and Jennings together in the fourth quarter to cut the lead down to nine points. The experiment worked but it gave more position issues for Hornacek to explore. According to the New York Post, if these two would play more together, there is a need for a true point guard.
According to ESPN, Hill is becoming a free agent in the summer of 2017 and could be one of the top guards available in free agency. NBA trade rumors have it that the Knicks might be interested in Hill since he is a true point guard who can drain threes and make plays. He averages 20.4 PPG, 5.0 APG and 2.9 RPG this season and he will be a perfect fit for the Knicks, considering he leaves the Jazz next year.
But it appears that the Jazz are looking to extend Hill's contract and they could pay him an extra of $13 million right now just to secure him for next season. It's still safe to say whether he would stay or not but the Jazz also needs a veteran guard who will lead their young team.
If these NBA trade rumors would happen, the Knicks will finally have stability in the point guard spot. They would be able to make a run in becoming a top contending team once again.
