During the UFC 205 Open Workouts, Conor McGregor could be seen wearing boxing gloves while having a bit of a spar. With Floyd Mayweather who was kind of inviting McGregor in the boxing ring for a fight, people can't stop wondering if the UFC champion would be seen again on boxing gloves. The fact that a UFC champion takes on a boxing superstar, the match is something particularly remarkable.
So, are they finally fighting?
Recently this summer, Mayweather Jr. made a bluff about him and Mcgregor in a boxing match. For many, it was just a deceitful enterprise for the boxing superstar to call for attention, but for the UFC champ, it's something serious. So serious that he even secured a boxing license.
The big news reached the Internet audiences and many assumptions floated since then. Many boxing and UFC fans have started to lay down their theories and a lot are saying that sooner or later details and revelations about the big fight between the two fighters will be announced. Some are even saying that McGregor is already making preparations.
But the UFC Champ seemed to tell otherwise
In a report by Yibada, boxing observers believe that McGregor's license, although true and legitimate, is just part of his marketing strategy. It was even reported that McGregor actually does not have huge plans about being in the boxing ring.
This observation might be true as the UFC champ has spoken about it and was kind of less aggressive about the match than Floyd. During a Q&A session in Belfast, McGregor is letting Mayweather's team make the decision. In a report by The Sun, McGregor said "It's their move now. I've presented myself. Here I have the boxing license."
However, McGregor also mentioned that Floyd's boxing manager said that the boxing superstar "doesn't care about Conor." Well, the UFC champ seems so cool about it and just said he doesn't care about him either and "if you don't want this fight, there's no problem."
Both teams did not officially deny any possible boxing match. So, fans can still hope for it to happen. But for now, McGregor will be taking some time off the octagon to prepare for the birth of his first child. The UFC champ will be back in action by 2017 midyear.
Meanwhile, on another UFC news, speculation are going on around UFC star Ronda Rousey to become a permanent member of WWE and will appear on 'WrestleMania 33'. That's a big news! Check out the report by Jobs & Hire.
