Months after the United States presidential elections were finally over, a lot of controversies and issues are thrown to the republican government. Currently, the latest controversy that shocked and made the whole world ponder is the alleged interference of Russia during the conducted presidential elections a few months earlier. What is the reason of Russia to do this? Do president-elect Donald Trump has a secret agreement with the Russian government? A lot of questions were really raised right after the issue came out.
According to a report from CNN, the US government publicly announced without any doubts that Russia did really hack the Democratic National Committee and other salient political organizations of the political party. The said hacks caused the public revelations of stolen emails that include black propagandas about the Democratic Party and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The intelligence agencies, however, reported that Russia's effort to cyber hack US does not suggest that they wanted to help in Trump's victory.
The earlier reports of the intelligence agencies regarding the issue was again changed earlier this month. The CIA announced to the top US senators their latest finding that Russia wanted to help Trump. The CIA's new conclusion and reports were based on their latest and most authentic and complete analysis on the mode of hacking. Findings also suggested that the hackers breached GOP individuals and organizations before the elections including Republican House members and thought leaders.
The Republican National Committee officials negated and denied that their systems were breached and only the staff's accounts were hacked. Trump reacted regarding the issue and he said that the assessment and evaluation is completely ridiculous. He added that he doesn't believe and considered the findings as an excuse.
On a closer look on the hacking basing from the report of Vox, tracking back on March 19 John Posdesta, Clinton's election chairman received an email. The email is to deceive a person into clicking the link and entering the password. Podesta successfully identified the suspicious email and tried to consult his IT staff, however, there was confusion on the instructions and the hackers ended up in accessing his email account. Reports added that Russian's talent to hack is really very fearful that they can hack actual voting machines and vote tallies thus, altering the results.
This big controversy in the republican US government has led to the misunderstanding between US top senators and intelligence units such as FBI and CIA because of argumentative and differences in the conclusion of investigations and findings. Currently, the Members of Congress have already agreed to do some kind of investigation again on the Russian hacking.
