"I am the instrument of vengeance for several women."
An email from an alleged vigilante killer has been released to the public, claiming responsibility for last week's murder of two bus drivers in the northern border city of Ciudad Juarez, where abuse and disappearances of several women has been attributed to bus drivers for the past decade or so.
On a Wednesday morning, a woman wearing a blonde wig (or perhaps may have been sporting dyed hair) boarded one of the school-bus style buses that serve as public transport throughout the city, approaching the driver, shooting him in the head before leaving the bus.
The next day, the same woman was said to have boarded another bus going along the same route, a witness claiming that she said to the driver, moments before shooting him, "You guys think you're real bad, don't you?"
Media outlets have, over the weekend, started receiving emails from somebody calling herself "Diana la Cazadora" or "Diana the Hunter." Authorities have yet to verify the authenticity of the email, or of the similarly named facebook page.
There was no robbery involved in the shootings.
Chihuahua state Police have released a sketch of the suspect September 4. It has also been announced that the government will take precaution and place undercover aboard buses and conduct a weapon search to prevent further killings, and that a citywide search for the killer has already commenced.
Many women have been murdered in Ciudad Juarez in as early as the 1990s and early 2000s, disappearing after boarding buses to be discovered months later raped, strangled and dumped in the desert or vacant lots throughout the city. It is hypothesized that Diana la Cazadora might as well have been a victim of predatory bus drivers, or is close to somebody who has been victimized.
