Actor Ben Affleck has received worldwide flak over new of being cast as Batman in an upcoming superhero film, but he has since gained some unlikely support after his so called "controversial" casting.
Josh Brolin, who admits that he had also at one point been offered the part of Batman in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel, says that he was "happy for Ben."
Brolin said that it had been Snyder's idea to cast him, but said that it just didn't work out. "It's OK," the actor said. But he thinks that the astounding amount of backlash that Ben Affleck received-from both fans and critics alike- was undeserved, and very much uncalled for:
"Seriously? The guy is just working like you are. He's trying to make the best choices he can."
He says that he truly feels for Affleck, stating that he would not want to be Affleck right now.
Affleck has also found another supporter in wife Jennifer Garner, who attests to her husband's great storytelling skills, and saying that she is excited to see the film when it finally comes out.
Josh Brolin was not the only actor considered for the role of the masked crusader of the night; other names also considerd include Brolin's "Gangster Squad" co-star Ryan Gosling, former Batman Christian Bale (which makes us wonder why not, for the sake of consistency, and foregoing the impending confusion of moviegoers everywhere), Richard Armitage, Joe Manganiello, Matthew Goode, Max Martini, and "Teen Wolf" hunk Tyler Hoechlin.
The upcoming Superman flick has yet to be titled, and will still star Henry Cavill as the caped crusader. The production has been reported to begin filming in 2014, and until then the world will have to wait if Affleck might just have been born for the role or not.
