Donald Trump narcissistic has caused alarm to most patriotic Americans. The incoming president is reportedly having almost all of the signs of a person with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. And if he is having the extreme signs, he is presumed to be a threat to the American nation.
Three professors from Harvard Medical School and the University of California were worried at the possible scenario when a narcissist seats at the White House. According to the Inquisitr, they sent a letter to President Barack Obama requesting to have Donald Trump investigated by an independent team of experts to determine his mental condition.
Professors Nanette Gartrell, M.D., Judith Herman, M.D. and Dee Mosbacher, M.D., Ph.D. signed a letter explaining the possible dangers of a narcissistic running a nation. According to them, Trump displays signs of NPD such as "mental instability, including grandiosity, impulsivity, hypersensitivity to slights or criticism, and an apparent inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality."
Undeniably, extreme cases of NPD can cause massive damage when the person decides on something like a nuclear release, orders attack on another nation and other decisions with massive effects. But Donald Trump has a track record of good governance. He has propelled his inherited company into success. When his business experienced slump due to outside factors, he made it rise to prominence again.
According to Dr. Susan Krauss Whitbourne of Psychology Today, persons with the moderate amount of the right kind of narcissism can become good leaders. Looking on the positive side of NPD, researchers have identified the quality of adaptive narcissism. "People with a good dose of adaptive narcissism can be self-sufficient, able to assume positions of leadership, and self-confident. They seem better able to cope with anxiety, particularly in social situations." This is according to Whitbourne and she seems right about it.
Donald Trump narcissistic seems to work for the incoming president with regards to leadership and management. He will soon assume the presidency of the U.S. He won by election and it is just proper to submit to his authority.
His cabinet members will surely not allow him to go wrong. They are by his side to implement the laws and make decisions for the general welfare of the American people.
Donald Trump might be narcissistic. Yes, he might show signs of being one but not all narcissists are failures. Eventually, time will tell if he is good and can make America great again. For now, it is fair to give him a chance.
