Julianne Moore will play Alma Coin in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Parts 1 & 2,' New York Daily news reported Friday.

Four-time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore officially signed on to join the cast of 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' and 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2,' Lionsgate announced Friday.

"Official! Please welcome Julianne Moore as President Alma Coin to the cast of @TheHungerGames: Mockingjay Parts 1&2," Lionsgate tweeted on Catching Fire account.

The 52-year-old star will play President Alma Coin, the shady leader of the rebellion against the Capitol and the tyrannical President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland), who based on the final installment of the franchise, recruits Jennifer Lawerence's Katniss Everdeen to her cause.

According to some previous reports, Moore has been the subject of casting rumors for months because of her potential fit for the role.

The 'Hunger Games' franchise has been steadily casting its actors for the final films in the movie series following this November's 'Catching Fire.'

MTV reported that Moore is to join other newly-casted actors including 'Game of Thrones' star Natalie Dormer, former '90210' star Evan Ross and Hollywood newcomer Stef Dawson.

Director Francis Lawrence will be back for the final two films, but is currently putting the finishing touches on 'the Hunger Games: Catching Fire,' New York Daily News reported.

Series' lead actors Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth are to reprise their roles for the final installments.

While 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is yet to be released on November 22, the screening dates for the 'Mockingjay' installments have already been announced.

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' will be out in theaters on November 21, 2014 while 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2' is scheduled for a November 20, 2015 release.
