Nordstrom Drops Ivanka Trump’s Fashion Line Due To Poor Performance; Not Politically Related

Avid shoppers of Ivanka Trump’s fashion line will no longer be able to purchase it at Nordstrom. The high-end department store’s decision to drop Ivanka’s brand was dropped because of poor performance. Nothing politically related was mentioned.
Nordstrom’s spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that "We've said all along we make buying decisions based on performance. We’ve got thousands of brands — more than 2,000 offered on the site alone. Reviewing their merit and making edits is part of the regular rhythm of our business. Each year we cut about 10 percent and refresh our assortment with about the same amount. In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season."
Ivanka has an extensive fashion line, which includes clothing, shoes, and accessories. Nordstrom’s decision earned mixed reactions from consumers. There are even Twitter users who said that the upscale store is playing politics, and it should not be done that way. Politics should not affect good products such as the First Daughter’s fashion line. Nordstrom said that the decision was plainly fashion business related and had nothing to do with politics.
It is not confirmed if the movement #GrabYourWallet has something to do with the store’s development. The boycott campaign is intended to encourage shoppers to stop supporting any products affiliated to the Trumps and that includes Ivanka’s fashion line.
However, Refinery29 shared a spokesperson of Ivanka’s brand said that "Nordstrom ordered both apparel and shoes for the spring, and followed through with the orders on the apparel.” Although they have canceled the shoe order, the store still pushed through with the apparel order and even moves the apparel from online into the stores. “It’s there,” added the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, in other fashion related news, Ralph Lauren Corp.’s CEO, Stefan Larsson is set to step down on May 1 because of some creative clash issues with the brand founder, says Jobs & Hire.
