San Francisco 49er Anquan Boldin livened up his team’s offense when he succeeded in two huge second-quarter receptions. The first one was a 20-yard touchdown that got the momentum going. Frank Gore also ran for 146 yards, his season high and assisted the 49ers in building a solid 21-3 lead over the St. Louis Rams in the third quarter.

Boldin has had an amazing debut with the 49ers, just after being on the team that beat them in last year’s Super Bowl. In Thursday’s game, he twisted past Cortland Finnegan and caught a 42-yard pass from team mate Colin Kaepernick. The play proved to be the 49er’s largest gain for the season.

Gore also played very well, having been able to double his output compared to the last three weeks of games. He surpassed his season record late in the first half of the game. Kaepernick also contributed in the third quarter, when he successfully launched a couple of key passes, one to Vernon Davis.

Kaepaernick was responsible for around 70 of the 49ers’ 88 yards on the ensuing drive. He passed for 63 of those yards, and also had a 7-yard scramble. Davis, who recently suffered a hamstring injury, was able to make a great catch on the left side near the end zone that enabled the team to score 21-3.

Boldin was actually a late acquisition for the 49ers, as the team did not get him until the sixth round pick during the off season. Boldin’s records include 208 yards on 13 catches when the 49ers opened the new season by going against the Green Bay Packers. In this game against the Saint Louis Rams, Boldin came in with 83 career receptions, the most out of all the opponents that he has ever come across with.
