Black Friday used to be a fun day for many, a time where families went out and about spending quality time together finding Christmas gifts for one another while also finding great savings.
Thanksgiving is such an enjoyable holiday that is celebrated around the world. Many lasting memories are made as friends and family travel locally and from afar to gather around the dinner table with a decadent feast for all to enjoy.
In past years traditionally everyone would stuff their tummies with lots of yummy foods and then retire to the den where everyone would gather around the television and watch the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Typically, shortly after the parade the men of the family would usually fall asleep watching football, as the women would chitter chatter perhaps over coffee or eggnog in the kitchen planning the following day's itinerary of Christmas shopping for what is known as "Black Friday".
Black Friday used to begin when stores opened the morning following Thanksgiving Day and was originally referred to as " Black Friday " due to the fact that after peak seasons the revenue of many business' typically plummeted into the red. The Thanksgiving holiday would be sort of a kick off day for Christmas shopping to begin and it would literally bring a companies revenue out of the red and into the black so to speak, hence began what we now know as "Black Friday ".
The world changes daily at a fast pace and so did "Black Friday", shoppers no longer have to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to get great deals. Black Friday has now begun as early as 2 a.m. except, in areas where there are still old blue laws in effect in which then the store will open at midnight.
Black Friday is definitely not what it used to be, in many states around the U.S there are reports of what could be referred to as mass hysteria, people are already setting up tents at Target and other stores nationwide and are prepared to sleep outside the store for a week in an effort to be the first inside the store when the doors open for Black Friday.
People are literally pushing, slapping , pulling hair and punching one another in order to get the items they want at a lower price.
I myself take no part in Black Friday shopping due to the fact that the injury I may receive in an altercation over a $10 savings may cost me thousands of dollars in treatments !
Quite the opposite, many people love the chaos this day brings and actually spend the entire year planning for Black Friday.
