Obama stuns shoppers at a local Washington bookstore when he and daughters, Sasha and Malia walked into Politics and Prose, Saturday. In an effort to show his support for small businesses, the president dropped by the bookstore in his casual clothes to buy what he said was a 'long list' of books.

The employees of the bookstore and the Saturday shoppers were surprised to see the president casually among the people busy with their shopping. Obama was seen laughing and joking around with other people in the store as he made his purchase.

Included in the president's 'long list' of books were 'The Sport Gene', 'The Kite Runner' and 'Harold and the Purple Crayon'. The Saturday after Thanksgiving is now known as the 'Small Business Saturday'. This was strategized to drive balance from big Black Friday sales from bigger businesses and online retailers on Cyber Mondays.

Obama through his Twitter account sent a tweet to his followers about the value of supporting small businesses. He tweets, "Today is #SmallBizSat-remember to shop at your local small business to support all they do for the community".

Last year, Obama went to a different bookstore - One More Page Books -in Arlington, Virginia. The year before, they went to Kramerbooks and Afterwords Café in Washington.

It was observed that Obama paid through credit card although the exact amount of how much the president paid for his purchases were not disclosed.

The president was then applauded by everyone as he left the store after greeting everyone a 'Happy Holiday'.
