A video of Tippy the Fainting Squirrel is inching its way to viral status. The brief clip shows a squirrel engaging in odd, and quite humorous, behavior.
Tippy the fainting squirrel got its moniker after the video showed how it would fall over suddenly while eating a nut. Tippy the fainting squirrel would munch on his treat for a few seconds, freeze and then tip over to the side. Tippy would then get back up and repeat the process.
Reactions to the clip vary from amused to deeply concerned for Tippy the fainting squirrel. Some viewers LOL'd at seeing the small animal fall over while others expressed their fears that Tippy might have a serious disease which is causing his erratic behavior. While there have been no answers from animal experts at this time, watchers are soon to get resolution one way or another. With the video slowly gaining popularity, it's only a matter of time before it would catch the eye of a specialist and light would be shed on Tippy's unusual behavior.
Some viewers speculate fermented food getting Tippy drunk while others think a serious heart condition may be the answer.
This isn't the first time an animal's strange behavior has made headlines. In 2008, two consecutive animal suicides had scientists baffled and observers creeped out. In Switzerland, 28 cows leapt off a cliff to their death over the course of three days. Another weird phenomena occurred in the US when dozens of giant squid beached themselves on the sands of California. Even birds aren't safe for in India, hundreds of these animals dive to their deaths every year.
While explanations for these occurrences have not been given, many speculate changes in the animals' surrounding environment as possible causes for their behavior. Others believe it could be a response to imminent danger.
