This fall's superhero blockbuster hit was Thor: the Dark World, no doubt about that. Fans of the Norse God have been waiting not just for the blond superhero to come back on the big screen but also for his scientist smarty pants girlfriend, Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman to come back. But Natalie Portman has revealed a cute little production secret: it wasn't her kissing Thor in that final scene!

Natalie Portman has told the New York Daily News that she actually wasn't there for the ending scene of the movie. Due to scheduling conflicts, the award winning actress was not able to make the trip back to Marvel Studios in time for the reshoots. "He was working in Hong Kong and I couldn't get there because I was working on my own film," she explains.

It was very lucky then that Liam Hemsworth's own wife was there to stand in for Natalie Portman. Elsa Pataky, the blond actress who has appeared in the last two Fast and the Furious films, was thrown in a dark brunette wig and a Jane Foster costume in order to film the kiss between Thor and Jane.

Natalie Portman also commented that it was actually a perfect solution to what could have been a schedule delaying problem as the real life couple proved to have the kind of chemistry that sizzles on screen as well. She said that the kiss was so much more passionate because Hemsworth was working with his real life love.

Not one to be above self deprecation, Natalie Portman has also revealed the secret as to why she was cast for the role of Jane. "I was mainly cast in the role because I can make anyone look huge when they stand next to me, I'm extraordinarily short. They usually had a ramp for me to walk up so I could land somewhere near his face," she jokingly said in the Graham Norton Show back in October.
