A python in Bali killed a security guard near a luxury hotel on Indonesia's resort island Friday, Fox News reported Dec. 28.
A security guard was mercilessly strangled to death by a Bali python, which quickly escaped into nearby bushes after the fatal attack.
Multiple sources noted that the deadly incident occurred around 3 a.m. as the 15-foot-long python was slithering across a road near the Bali Hyatt Hotel.
The snake's victim was later on identified as 59-year-old Ambar Arianto Mulyo, who was actually a security guard at a nearby restaurant.
The snake is currently on the loose, according to Agence France-Presse, but authorities are trying their best to capture the python.
Another security guard, who witnessed the incident, said it took place "on the roadway outside the hotel's property."
Mulyo allegedly volunteered to catch the snake since it had been spotted several times before near the hotel, and although he managed to secure the python's head and tail, the cunning reptile quickly wrapped itself around the victim's body, only to strangle him full force.
Denpasar police Capt. Gusti Ngurah Yudistira said Mulyo had died of suffocation.
"The management team and hotel associates of Bali Hyatt express their sincere condolences to the family of the victim of the python attack," Bali Hyatt spokeswoman Jamie Zimmerman told CNN.
As of late, management has declined to comment more on the python Bali strangulation, but they revealed that the hotel is still under renovation and is closed until 2015.
Although deadly snake attacks on adult humans are quite rare, they have been documented from time to time.
