Apple iPad Air Vs. Google Nexus 10: Battle of Best Specs, Features & More!
By Jobs & Hire Staff Reporter | Jan 06, 2014 10:57 AM EST
The Apple iPad Air is the hot cake among techie tablets as of late. But is it really the best gadget in the market right now? Or is it simply because it's the newest device from Apple that gives it the edge over its competitors? Meanwhile, the Google Nexus 10 has already proven its efficiency and bared almost every hidden trick and feat it has since its release in October 2012. The good question now is how does the Nexus 10 score compare to Apple's latest offering? Let's find out by going over these two tablets' features, specs and other particularities that make one stand out from the other.
Apple iPad Air over Google Nexus 10
Putting the Apple iPad Air and the Google Nexus 10 side by side, one will notice right away that Apple's tablet is way thinner and lighter, and even slightly smaller with a 9.7-inch screen. On the other hand, Google's Nexus 10 sports a bigger body with its 10.1-inch display. Hence, it's not surprising that the Google Nexus 10 weighs more at 603 grams than the Apple iPad Air, which weighs way lighter at 478 grams.
Although both tablets sport only 5MP shooters, the Apple iPad Air's rear-facing camera comes with a number of interesting features such as Touch to Focus, back-illuminated sensor (BSI), digitals zoom, and High Dynamic Range Mode (HDR) among others.
In terms of hardware, the Apple iPad Air comes with the Apple A7, 64-bit chip while the Google Nexus 10 sports a Samsung Exynos 5 chip. They actually come with very different processors, with the Apple tablet having a dual-core 1400 MHZ, cyclone processor and the Google Nexus 10 flaunting a dual-core 1700 MHz ARM Cortex-A15 processor. What's quite amazing is despite the obvious advantage of the 1700 MHZ processor compared to Apple's 1400 MHZ, it seems that the Apple Air performs better without lags or unresponsive moments at all. This is because the 64-bt architecture boosts the quality of performance it has to offer.
Google Nexus 10 over Apple iPad Air
Surprisingly, although the Google Nexus 10 is a relatively older device, it packs in several features and specs that are too advanced to ignore. First is the display of this tablet. The Google Nexus 10 sports a 2560 x 1600 pixels display with 300 pixel density while the Apple iPad Air comes with a slightly smaller display resolution at 2048 x 1536 pixels and 264 ppi. Nonetheless, one cannot actually notice the difference on the quality of their display since both are technically high-end in this aspect.
Although not really that big of a deal, the front-facing camera of the Google Nexus 10 is actually much better than that found in the iPad Air. It comes with a 1.9 MP front camera while Apple's newest tablet device only sports a 1.2 MP camera.
For system memory, we are quite impressed that the Nexus 10 has 2048 MB RAM as opposed to the Apple iPad Air's 1024 MB RAM. We'd like to give this round to the Google device since bigger RAM means better multi-tasking performance.
Finally, one thing that many buyers do not take for granted anymore is the size of batteries in their devices. When it comes to these two, we'd also like to hand the recognition to the Google Nexus 10 for having a 9000 mAh battery. Contrariwise, the Apple iPad Air comes with an 8820 mAH battery capacity.
