Manny Pacquiao will seek redemption against Timothy Bradley, and reports indicated that the former pound-for-pound king wants nothing less than a knockout win on April 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
In an interview with PhilBoxing, Pacquiao's long-time trainer and close friend Buboy Fernandez said the "Pacman" has been stepping up in training camp in hopes of reaching peak shape in time for the rematch with his former tormentor.
According to Fernandez, Pacquiao told them that if Bradley decides to run a lot again, he will go all out to chase the undefeated WBO welterweight champion and throw a lot of combinations.
"Pacquiao told us that if Bradley runs again just like he did in the first fight, he is prepared to give chase," Fernandez said. "If Bradley exchanges, he'll be swarmed with punches."
Fernandez also revealed that Pacquiao is determined to score a knockout this time to silence his doubters, who are saying that the 35-year-old former champion has no more killer instinct based on his previous win against Brandon Rios in November.
"Manny himself stated the need to win by KO. He's been receiving so many teasing and insulting statements coming from Bradley which he doesn't like," Fernandez said.
Pacquiao Already Showing Killer Instinct In Training Camp
And to prove how serious he is in reclaiming his old glory, Pacquiao has been doing very well in training camp with reports saying that the eight-division champion manhandled his sparring mate, Lydell Rhodes.
According to ABS-CBN News, Pacquiao bloodied his sparring mate's nose with his excellent combinations and powerful left straights during their first sparring session.
"Yeah, my nose bloodied a little bit because he hit me, it wasn't bleeding a lot but I got a little bit of blood there," Rhodes said.
The 26-year-old American, who is undefeated in 19 professional bouts, admitted Pacquiao caught him off guard several times, saying that Pacman stunned him with his superb speed and punching power.
"It was great, Manny's very good, very skilled. He's very fast, very strong. He's in shape; he threw a lot of punches. And oh, yeah he punches very hard, I felt them, yeah," Rhodes said. "He's very, very fast, and there are some punches you can't see. You just close your eyes a bit and he's already a step away."
