ATM Machine Malfunctions Giving Out Whopping $37,000 To Homeless Guy In South Portland

ATM malfunctions spitting out $37,000 from a bank account only containing $140 in deposits. The lucky guy who got the huge withdrawal was a homeless person who lives in South Portland. The amount was coming out of the ATM machine in just a few minutes.
The homeless guy was reported to have been taking too long using the ATM machine, when the woman at the back of the line was suspicious about the transaction. She called the police in order to report the incident. The lucky withdrawal from the unidentified guy was thought to be a robbery. He was putting all the dollar bills inside his bag while the machine was ejecting all the money.
Reports say that the homeless guy was just withdrawing $140 from his bank ATM card, but it seems that the machine malfunctioned and ejected a huge amount of $37,000.
The police responded from the calls made reporting the incident at the ATM machine. An official from the police department detailed the events, the homeless guy was seen sleeping next to the bank ATM. Calls were also made from a woman, reporting that a guy was holding up the line at the ATM machine and suspicion the he may be stealing from it. When the police arrived a the area, they found the homeless guy with a bag filled with money amounting $37,000.
The homeless guy was not prosecuted for any crime, but he was obliged to return the money. The bank will be checking through the incident, and will be looking for a solution for the malfunctioned ATM machine. The cash was returned to the bank, as it pointed out that no other accounts were affected on the issue.
The ATM incident in South Portland is a sign that banks need more security on its machines. The homeless guy who was almost lucky to get $37,000 for free, was not so fortunate when he returned it.
