A vocal performance that put Myley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball shenanigans to shame
There's always this one moment when you know a star's being born, when you see a glimpse of greatness, Christina's came from the very start, during Blind Auditions, from the first few notes that reached our ears of her own version of Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball. A moment which had all the coaches enamored that resulted in a four chair turner. We were looking at perhaps the next the voice finalist-the next big star.
But before she was on television, 20 year old Christina Grimmie was already famous on a much smaller medium. She has been deemed-or has reached "YouTube celebrity" since first appearing on the music scene in 2009. Her cover of Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA was her first popular cover video.
A youtube star with many a following; she's the fourth highest subscribed to musician on the site. Her videos showcasing her vocal abilities; belting skills whilst playing her piano with covers from such stars as Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry and more. She has stated Stacie Orrico as one of her many influences in terms of song writing and music styling.
During the MyYouTube competition, Christina reached the Top 5 placing behind Selena Gomez, and in front of Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Justin Bieber Grimmie was later signed Creative Artists Agency after being discovered by Gomez's stepfather, Brian Teefey, who later became her manager.
She has since opened for Selena Gomez & the Scene, performed on The Ellen Degeneres Show, but it seems the you tube star wanted more- after expressing that she wanted to leave behind doing covers and try writing her own music she release produced/released her own debut EP , "Find Me" then followed by "With Love"
She came on to NBC's The Voice stage determined not only to prove herself-but to set herself above-that she can still do more, grow so much more as an artist
She has since then done memorable performances such as Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up", Lil Wayne's "How to Love", and "Hold On, We're Going Home" by Drake with the latter two reaching Top 10 on iTunes. She has more than proven that she is Top 8 material but can she take it all the way to the finals? Here's to hoping.
