Scandal Season 4 is obviously another scandalous season for gladiators. Things are going to take a different turn as the new storyline unfolds for Olivia Pope, President Fitz, and Mellie Grant. The spoilers for the upcoming season, which is due this fall, can be summed up into a death, a reunion, and a continued disappearance.
Death - following the loss of her son, Mellie Grant is said to be walking on thin ice with her dear life at stake. Jerry's tragic passing was caused by an affliction that was hard to cure. And as part of the repercussions of Jerry's death, everyone's speculating that Mellie Grant could be next, referencing to that scene when Jerry coughed blood all over his mom's blazer. Did she get infected? "I don't know! He did, he sneezed all over me, there was blood all over my blazer," actress Bellamy Young, who plays Mellie Grant, said in a recent interview on the upcoming Scandal Season 4.
Reunion - instead of getting bothered by the idea that Mellie Grant could be next, there are still a lot of optimistic things going on in the life of the first lady. After being re-elected as President and after the death of his son President Fitz will need someone to lean on, and at times like this, he can only turn to Mellie Grant for comfort and sympathy. The two are said to be getting closer than they were for several years of being married. Does this mean that their romantic feelings will be rekindled? Execs, cast members, and even Shonda Rhimes have chosen to be mum over the topic.
Disappearance - there are actually two disappearing acts in the upcoming season of ABC's Scandal. First is Olivia Pope's disappearance from the lives of President Fitz and Mellie Grant. Our protagonist is going to be preoccupied this season, and nobody has even hinted if there is still hope for her and President Fitz's romance. Another disappearance refers to the firing of Columbus Short, who plays Harrison Wright, from Scandal. After his scandalous altercation with a man and his life-threatening act against his wife, the actor has reportedly been cut-off from the series for good by show creator Shonda Rhimes.
In an exclusive response to TMZ's query over his exit from the hit television series, Columbus Short said, "No. They fired me by sending me a snap chat message. It was fast and it came quick. I almost missed the message because it came so quick." Additionally, the actor dished that he is not interested in re-joining the cast even if execs and producers would want him back in the show.
Meanwhile, there's still good news for Scandal. Actress Bellamy Young, who plays Mellie Grant, just got nominated for a Critic's Choice Award for her portrayal of the said role. Cheers to that!
