Tonight is indeed a big night for Perception fans as the hit TNT series returns with its brand-new season. Actor Eric McCormack, who plays lead on the show, recently opened up about what fans should expect on the premiere episode of the series. "The exciting thing about the first episode. It's this place that he went to that he thought he would find so much academic reward, and the history of it, and the solace of not having to work, is in fact very quickly going to turn on him," McCormack said. "His hallucinations become very intense and he really can't tell what's real from this and he doesn't have any of his tells to go by. It's a very dangerous place for him to be." Additionally, McCormack also dished about his character's big move to Paris, explaining the pros and cons of it. "It's not a solution at all. He's running to something, but ultimately running away from something," he said. "I think what's fun, as we started to discover over the course of the season, is that the act of doing it was something that emboldened him. The Pierce that we see in Season 3, not just in terms of how he deals with the world and how he deals with crime-solving, but how he deals with his feelings for Kate. We're going to see a man that has cracked the egg a little bit and literally is coming out of his shell. That's a big story point as the season goes on, Pierce starting to come face to face with what the audience has been wondering all along: 'How does he feel about Kate?'" This season, the Perception cast will be joined by new but very familiar faces on TV. There's Cold Case alum Thom Barry and the former Miss Golden Globes Francesca Eastwood. Barry is reportedly playing the role of Special Agent William Pasons, who is tapped to lead the FBI in Chicago to become Kate's boss. Eastwood, on the other hand, will portray a model, who used to work as an art muse for an artist. She will be involved in an estranged relationship with a secret admirer, who happens to be part of a heist inside the art museum. Eastwood is of course very familiar since she is the daughter of Clint Eastwood and France Fisher. He also has an uncanny ability to see patterns and look past people's conscious emotions to see what lies beneath. Pierce's mind may be brilliant, but it's also damaged. He struggles with hallucinations and paranoid delusions brought on by his schizophrenia."
"Oddly, he considers some of his hallucinations to be a gift. They occasionally allow him to make connections that his conscious mind can't yet process. At other times, the hallucinations become Pierce's greatest curse, leading him to behave in irrational, potentially dangerous ways."
